Dic de L'Oest - Punta des Grells

Caló des Grells is three kilometres from Palma, located between the points of des Grells and sa Cova des Coloms, as well as very close to Portopí, Castell de Sant Carles (a 17th century fortress converted into a military museum), Far de Portopí, the Naval Base, the Royal Guard detachment and Dic de l'Oest (located to the south, at a depth of 30 metres, there are several shipwrecks, some of which are of great proportions). This quiet beach, close to the town centre, has a mostly rocky slope, although it has an area of coarse sand, a steep slope and the crystallinity of the water depends on the sea currents. Portopí, a natural u-shaped sea inlet, currently transformed into a naval station, must have been Palma's main port in Roman times.
