Finca pública de Planícia

The Planícia public estate is located in the municipality of Banyalbufar, within the protected area of the Serra de Tramuntana Natural Area. The houses of Planícia are already mentioned in the 14th century and constitute one of the best examples of Mallorcan rural houses in the Serra, in addition to being in a privileged place with extraordinary views over the villages of Banyalbufar and Estellencs and the island of Sa Dragonera.

In Planícia there is an interesting flora, rich in endemisms and species of reduced distribution such as the "estepa joana" (Hypericum balearicum), the "didalera" (Digitalis dubia) and the spiny, cushion-like shrubs (Teucrium marum and Astragalus balearicus). As regards fauna, the presence of the "ferreret" (Alytes muletensis), a tiny amphibian endemic to Mallorca, stands out. On the other hand, in the holm oak groves of Planícia there is an important ethnological heritage related to the works of long ago in the field: coal silos and huts, lime kilns, water tanks, etc. The itineraries available on the estate will allow us to know the valuable natural and cultural heritage. Finally, in relation to ethnological heritage, it is important to note that the Serra de Tramuntana was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in the category of cultural landscape.
