Mancor de la Vall
Mancor de la Vall is located in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, about 215 metres above sea level, and retains the charm of a small village nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains. In addition to Mancor, the municipality also includes the small villages of Biniarroi, Massanella and Biniatzent.
Of particular architectural interest in Mancor de la Vall are the parish church of Sant Joan Baptista and the chapel of Santa Llúcia, first mentioned in 1358. It is worth taking a walk up to the chapel to enjoy the beautiful view over the village and the mountains. Here you can also admire several houses with interesting architectural features, such as Can Marquesí, Son Simó, Cas Vellaco and Turixant, the latter converted into a hotel-restaurant.
In November, the Fira del Esclata-sang i la Muntanya is held (the esclata-sang is a wild mushroom). Mushrooms are the main attraction of this festival, especially the esclata-sang, an essential ingredient of the island's traditional autumn cuisine. This is also an excellent opportunity to buy handicraft products of all kinds and to enjoy a day dedicated to food and wine, with restaurants and bars serving dishes based on these prized mushrooms as well as others.
Surrounded by the mountains, Mancor de la Vall offers hikers the possibility of discovering a wild landscape of great beauty, but it is important to bear in mind that some routes cross private properties, so it is necessary to inquire beforehand about the conditions for entering and crossing them.
