Peguera Palmira

Platja Palmira, Peguera Palmira or Platja des Pouet is the biggest of the three beaches, together with Peguera Torà and Peguera Romana, which form Peguera. It is situated at seven kilometres from Andratx, between Caló de ses Llises and Punta des Carabiners.

The name Peguera is given by the oven that was used to extract the resin from the pine trees, and Palmira by the only house which was built here at the end of the 20th century on a former system of dunes.

This sandy area is the result of a human intervention. The two breakwaters which used to divide the beach were eliminated and tons of fine-grained white sand were introduced to form the excellent huge sandy area which it is nowadays.

There is a promenade with palm trees in this place which is dedicated to the mass tourism, and it is also a barrier between touristic buildings, restaurants, residential houses and the beach.

The fact that it is exposed to the wind from the southeast-south-southwest recommend anchoring boats during the day on a sandy ground. The depth ranges from three to five metres. At 2,1 nautical miles there is Club Nàutic Santa Ponça.

The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be left for free in the streets of this touristic village. Avenida Peguera leads to the beach. You can also reach this beach with the public transport. The nearest bus stop is located in the surroundings.

These characteristics explain that the beach is very crowded by local visitors and tourists.
